Hi! I'm Paige Tailyn and I am a plant enthusiast and educator
(incase ya' didn't know).

Blossom Effect's mission is to celebrate culture and inclusivity through
plant education and  ownership.

At Blossom Effect,  we are a transformative platform that empowers black and brown people to nurture not only their plants but also their personal growth and sense of purpose. Our unique value proposition stems from our commitment to creating an inclusive space where plant education, ownership, and empowerment converge.

Inclusivity.
Culture.
Growth.

Following in the footsteps of iconic Black plant scientists like George Washington Carver and Percy Julian is no small feat, but Derek Haynes—known as The Chocolate Botanist—is uniquely positioned to lead the charge. Originally recognized as the Crazy Botanist, Derek rebranded to honor his chocolate complexion and celebrate his Black identity, infusing his work with a powerful narrative of cultural pride and scientific rigor. As a scientist and communicator, he seamlessly weaves together botany, ethnobotany, and humor, creating a relatable bridge between traditional botanical wisdom and modern science.

Derek is starting a channel/streaming service called Seed TV featuring black gardeners, horticulturalists, botanists, farmers and overall plant people on Vimeo. The funding will go to a year subscription on Vimeo and the remainder to go to his website to get it reactivated, and other associated costs with building the platform.

Crazy Plant Bae is a Black woman-owned plant shop and green lifestyle brand rooted in community, culture, and sustainability. Founded in New Orleans, Crazy Plant Bae goes beyond selling plants — it nurtures connection, healing, and education through workshops, youth programs, and creative pop-ups. With a mission to make plant care accessible and joyful, Crazy Plant Bae brings greenery to underserved spaces and inspires the generation of growers to bloom where they're planted

Crazy Plant Bae plans use the micro grant to expand their youth-focused programming and sustainable gardening initiatives. The funding would support the launch of their “Green Bae Youth Lab,” a hands-on, mobile workshop series teaching young people—especially in underserved neighborhoods—how to grow, care for, and even sell plants using eco-conscious methods.

Explore the "Family Tree"  (Pl)art Collection

“Family Tree” is a visual exploration of sensuality, nature, and feminine energy, born from a collaboration between myself, a plant enthusiast and educator, and my sister, an erotic surrealistic artist. This series weaves together our mutual love for eroticism, women, and the botanical world, highlighting the intricate connection between the human body and the natural forms of plants.

Each piece centers around one of five plant families—Monstera, Philodendrons, Begonias, Anthurium, and Alocasia—chosen for their organic beauty, symbolism, and rich textures. The plants become metaphors for growth, resilience, and the nurturing qualities found in both nature and femininity.

In this series, the intertwining of human and plant forms speaks to the shared rhythms of life, growth, and transformation, where the sensuality of the body and the lushness of nature coexist in perfect harmony.

“Family Tree” celebrates the power and diversity of the feminine spirit through the lens of these dynamic plant species, reminding us of the beauty that flourishes when we embrace both the sensual and the natural in our lives.
